Why is the magnet in my Abort Gate not holding up the blade?

Spark console not connected.

Verify that a spark detect console is connected between terminals 3 and 4.

Magnet not aligned with striker plate.

Verify that the magnet is contacting the striker plate evenly. If there is any gap between the magnet and striker plate, the magnet will not hold.

Magnet not adjusted properly.

Any fluctuations in the supply power will cause the abort gate to trip. If you have an abort gate that is tripping randomly, please verify that the line voltage to the abort gate is stable.

Verify that the magnets are adjusted properly. Follow the procedure below to properly adjust the magnets.

  1. Disconnect the cord on the blade up proximity switch. The proximity switch is located on the top of the abort gate next to the magnet.

  2. Press and hold the raise gate button on the control panel until the actuator fully extend and comes to a hard stop with the blade fully extended.
  3. On the magnet, adjust the 2 magnet hanger nuts so that the nut just touches the washer and you can spin the washer by hand.

  4. Reconnect the cable to the proximity switch. The actuator arm will retract and the abort gate will arm.
