Why is there dust coming out of my dust collector?

The last thing a dust collector should be doing is spewing dust out of it's clean air outlet. Lets discuss some reasons your dust collector may be experiencing blowby.

Filter cartridges are not seated properly.

Make sure filter cartridges are properly installed into the body of the collector. This means filters are pushed against the back of the dust collector unit, or the filter seated directly behind it. If it is a vertical style collector, ensure lift rails are raised and in the upright position, sealing the filter gaskets against the tube sheet.

Filter cartridges are damaged.

If a filter cartridge gets damaged during transit or installation, it can not be expected to perform effectively. Examples may include dented end caps, damaged gasket, or holes in the filter media. If you think there may be a hole in the media, but uncertain or not sure where, our ServiceMAXX team can perform a dye test to locate the leak. Once the damage has been located replace the filters as necessary.
